A vital part of the Commonwealth Academy community, CAPA supports students, teachers, and parents through a wide range of activities.  All parents and guardians of students at Commonwealth are automatically members of CAPA, and we encourage each of you to become actively involved.

CAPA volunteers plan and/or support several events throughout the year that enhance student life at Commonwealth Academy, from outings and community service activities to parties, proms, dances, and picnics, to lunches that celebrate the end of grading periods.  We also provide hospitality for events.

CAPA enables opportunities for fellowship, an open exchange of ideas, and discussion about parenting issues. CAPA volunteers organize gatherings such as a fall social where parents of common-aged children can meet and socialize in a more intimate manner, and Café Night, a parent-teacher social and fundraising event. CAPA volunteers help with our school’s major fundraiser, the annual CARE Awards event.  In addition, parents can serve as liaisons to other parents whose children are in the same grade, welcoming new families and planning informal get-togethers.

How Can I Help?

All parents are welcome and needed to play an active part in CAPA.  There are many ways to participate, depending upon your time, talents, and interests.  Come to a CAPA meeting to learn about the activities and events that need your support.  Follow the volunteer opportunities posted regularly in CAPA’s e-newsletter, the CAPA Connection.  Or contact one of the CAPA officers.
