COUGARS SWEEP SPORTSMANSHIP AWARDS

Commonwealth students received all three Sportsmanship Awards at the 4th Annual Kingsbury Holiday Invitational Basketball Tournament on December 14 -15, 2007 at West Elementary High School in Washington, DC. Awardees included Casey Howerton, Ally Leader, and Mike Jones. Jones was also voted First Team All-Star for the tournament.

The Cougars, coached by Rob Henneberg and David Roth, placed third in tournament play after their 44-40 victory over Nora School. Scoring was led by Mike Jones with 23 points, and Marcus Cox with 11. Commonwealth also defeated The British School 19-10 in their opening game with balanced scoring by Mike Jones, Marcus Cox and Lawrence Hayes. Kingsbury, the eventual tournament champion, defeated Commonwealth in their second game 61-22.
