MIDDLE SCHOOLERS PRESENT PUPPET SHOW, "THE CAMEL lOT"

After two semesters of studying the medieval era in drama and art, Commonwealth Academy middle school students staged a puppet show, “The Camel Lot”, on January 21st for fellow students, parents, and faculty. The play, as edited by CA’s 9th & 10th grade writing teacher, Mr. Matt Johns, delivered a contemporary twist to this timeless story, filled with wit and humor. Studying with art teacher and puppet expert Ms. Ksenya Litvak, each student created a fabulous rod puppet to reflect their chosen characters. To prepare, students studied the music and literature of medieval times, watched movies, drew mythological creatures, painted castles, and created 3D castles. An ongoing tradition, middle school students have previously staged plays and puppet shows bringing to life their learning about Russian and Japanese folk tales.
