Our students hail from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

At this time, CA does not provide transportation for students. However, our families living in Maryland and D.C. typically organize carpools to transport their children to and from Alexandria.

Middle and Upper School students can also easily commute to CA by Metro. The Braddock Road Metro station on the yellow and blue lines is a short walk away. Please note that one or more Metrorail projects may impact the commute to/from Braddock Road station this school year.

The CA school day begins at 8 a.m. sharp. Here is a breakdown by division:

Lower School: 

• Arrival: 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
• Dismissal begins at 3:45 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.

Middle School:

• Arrival: 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
• Advisory begins promptly at 8 a.m.
• Dismissal begins at 3:45 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.

Upper School:

• Arrival: 7:50 a.m. to 8:20 a.m.
• Advisory begins promptly at 8:20 a.m.
• Dismissal begins at 3:45 p.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m.

Yes! After-school programming typically begins between 3:45 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. and runs through 5:30 p.m. For more information, please contact our Office of Auxiliary Programs for more information.

Students eat on-campus each day and will have two options for lunch. They may bring a bagged lunch from home and/or
parents have the option to pre-order and pay for student lunches using the catering service Wholesome Foods.
