In the world of academia, achievements are celebrated and milestones are cherished. Today, we are proud and honored to publicly congratulate CA Writing Teacher and English Department Chair Ms. Carolyn Fado, whose proposal has been accepted for the prestigious 46th Annual Fulbright Conference; meaning she will lead a roundtable session. This remarkable accomplishment is a testament to her dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment to education, writing, and uplifting/developing student voices.
A Remarkable Journey
With a background that speaks volumes about her passion for teaching and writing, Ms. Fado previously served as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) in Bulgaria.
The Prestige of the Fulbright Conference
The Fulbright Conference stands as one of the most prestigious gatherings in the field of international education. Scholars, educators, and professionals worldwide come together to share insights, exchange ideas, and explore innovative approaches to fostering global understanding. Being selected to present at this conference is a true honor and speaks to the exceptional quality of Ms. Fado’s proposal and subject matter expertise.
The Fulbright Conference's significance lies not only in its academic rigor but also in its mission to promote mutual understanding between people of different cultures and backgrounds. Ms. Fado’s participation will undoubtedly contribute to this mission, furthering the Fulbright Program's goals and further promoting the work she does at CA in alignment with the school’s DEIB initiatives.
Insights from the Session
Ms. Fado’s session, Writing: A Therapeutic Art to Build Student Voice and Resilience, focuses on not only sharing her experiences but also bringing others together in discussion about the opportunities available to use writing as a social-emotional wellness tool — something she does regularly with CA students. Her session draws on her diverse experiences not just with Fulbright and CA, but also her experiences within DC Public Schools (DCPS) and other school communities.
As we celebrate Ms. Fado's remarkable achievement, we look forward to her presentation and the positive impact it will undoubtedly have on the Fulbright community and the wider world of education — especially in spaces where, like CA, students have unique learning differences and exceptionalities.
Once again, congratulations to Ms. Fado on this well-deserved recognition. We are proud to have such an accomplished and passionate individual representing our institution on the global stage!
