Academics
Best Practices for Bright Students
At CA, we offer students a safe, supportive environment in which they can meet — and often exceed — their academic potential. At each grade level, students report feeling more competent, confident, and committed to skill-building and their own success, inside and outside of the classroom. Our college-prep program serves a range of students, including twice-exceptional (2e) learners as well as those with executive functioning challenges and ADHD, because no child’s learning differences should hold them back from becoming their best, brightest selves.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
Commonwealth Academy boasts a specialized college preparatory program. In Middle School, often without realizing it, students prepare for college via their daily schedule. With class sizes of no more than 10 children, students engage in standards-based work in each of these core subjects; mastering skills and content in a nurturing environment. Beginning at the top of the school year, members of the CA faculty provide expert-level differentiated instruction to meet students where they are and begin building success together. We continuously re-evaluate instructional techniques to provide our students with an academic experience that is as rigorous as it is engaging.

UPPER SCHOOL
In Upper School , we support our students in becoming academic risk-takers who possess the confidence to try, engage, and sometimes even fail, knowing that they have the support to course-correct and embrace those opportunities for growth and learning. Our students have the space to think, develop their voice and perspective, and be active learners, leaders, and problem-solvers. Developing the skills to tackle challenges in a supportive and safe environment allows our students to be resilient and to build a strong foundation for academic growth. Our students become advocates for their learning by exploring their strengths and by developing tools and strategies they will be able to use in college and beyond.
