Enrichment

There are many ways for CA students to work in areas of strength and passion and push themselves academically. In Upper School, one of those ways is through the CA Diploma Certificates Program. The Certificate Program was developed to give students an opportunity to pursue a passion or potential college major in more depth than the coursework required to graduate. Students in the Certificate Program work at a rigorous level in honors-level or advanced courses and enjoy numerous outside opportunities for extracurricular and experiential learning that enrich their classroom lessons through internships, camps, clubs and organizations, and outside coursework.

Colleges and universities recognize this distinction as one that reflects a student’s intellectual curiosity and desire to engage in interdisciplinary learning, as well as their ability to assume greater academic responsibility. Certificates may be earned with either a Standard or Advanced Diploma and are explained in the School Profile, which is part of the application packet a college receives.

Some students will begin to engage in Certificate Program work as early as 9th grade. However, it’s quite possible to decide to earn a Certificate after freshman year, or to change which Certificate to pursue.

Current Certificates offered are listed below. Interested students should contact the Head of Upper School to set up a time to discuss how this could fit into their academic program.
