Commonwealth Academy is committed to encouraging, supporting, and empowering our students to become their very best selves. Daily, we help students become better learners by providing a comprehensive and developmental counseling program that meets their academic, personal, social, and career development needs. Our efforts include programmatic work using The Zones of Regulation, The Social Thinking Methodology, and other resources, as well as group and individual support.
In our Lower School, this support includes Character Counts lessons and a team-building elective that supports foundational social skills and helps each student develop an individual “toolkit” for self-regulation. In our Middle and Upper School divisions, opportunities for social learning and connection continue with lunch bunches and social skills groups as well as individual, short-term counseling.
The Counseling Team collaborates with faculty and staff members, as well as school leaders on an ongoing basis to:
Foster student learning and growth
Communicate effectively and regularly with caregivers and families
Provide tips and strategies to support student success and well-being at home
Collaborate with outside providers to help implement strategies to support student success and well-being
